Epirus Social Hub

The present structure is the result of a long-term process of the implementing body (THREE THIRDS SOCIETY NPO), which is active in the field of Social Economy & Entrepreneurship for the last ten (10) years. It was developed based on the long experience of THREE THIRDS SOCIETY NPO and thorough research for the development of specific forms of Social Entrepreneurship in Greece of formal and informal Social Economy actors operating in the region of Epirus, in order to find funding for their actions.

The structure contributes to the business and economic reconstruction of the region, to the creation of jobs, to the promotion of social cohesion, which is threatened- due to the unfavorable economic environment – and to the creation of a local ecosystem of Social Economy and Entrepreneurship.

In recent years, the Social Economy has emerged in Greece as an important tool to address the effects of the economic crisis and to create new and sustainable jobs.The Social Economy is based for its development on both social and human capital. At the same time, however, it also requires executives with knowledge, skills and resources who will be able to contribute to tackling the problems facing the sector. 

In the frame work of the Epirus Social Hub, an attempt is made to implement in the grated advisory services, based on studies, standards and methodologies, which will be addressed to social economy organizations operating in the region of Epirus.

The mission of these sessions is to stimulate the creation, support and development of social enterprises in the wider region of Epirus. By fulfilling its mission, the project contributes to the entrepreneurial and economic recovery of the region, to the creation of jobs, to the promotion of social cohesion, which is threatened due to the unfavorable economic environment and to the creation of a local ecosystem of Social Economy and Entrepreneurship.

The structure provides the appropriate environment for the creation of new and emerging forms of socially oriented entrepreneurship and the interaction of the social enterprises being established.

The beneficiaries of the project are:

  • Existing Social Economy actors
  • Informal Social Economy groups
  • Social Economy Organizations that apply to provide some services on an occasional basis.

The financial framework

Epirus Social Hub is funded under the Social and Solidarity Economy Grant Program of the Epirus 2014-2020 Operational Program me.

The action concerns the support of Social and Solidarity Economy Organizations operating in the Region of Epirus for the subsidization of economic activity and the creation of jobs.

The objectives of the action are:

  • The creation/strengthening of productive self-management projects and collective social entrepreneurship
  • Reducing unemployment, especially among vulnerable and specific groups of the population
  • Boosting employment by creating new jobs
